The True Valentine

Valentine's Day. Lover's Day. The world has spent at least $13 billion every year (for large scale production of flowers, chocolate, jeweleries, etc) just for this very day of Valentine's Day (at least that was what I was told). Is Valentine's Day over-rated by everyone? Who's the True Valentine who started this all? What's the story behind this special day?

This truth was somewhat revealed to me by Ben Lo of Empowered on Valentine Eve 2009 during YG. (Wondered why this did not come to me last year O.o) It goes something like this...

Once upon time, there lived an Atheist (or anti-Christ) Emperor and a Priest. The priest's name was St. Valentine. One day, he healed a blind girl in prison because he was asked to do so by her father or someone else. The girl was healed and some people started to believe in God, their faith grew in Jesus. The emperor heard of this and wanted to have the priest executed. St. Valentine was captured and he waiting for his last few days in prison. Before he was executed, he wrote a letter to the blind girl who he had healed addressing "From Your Valentine". That's where the whole thing started. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just recalling what I remember :P

So ultimately, what St. Valentine did for the blind girl was out of love and for God. He made Christians converts in the country of the Atheist Emperor and ready to die for it. Thus, God is our True Special One.
So whenever you are like me you're sad or disappointed for not having anyone to send to you any valentine's gift or wishes or romantic words. Remember this story of The True Valentine...

=)
